The Ford Mustang Dark Horsewill return to Australian showrooms with a Supercars tie-up involving Triple Eight Race Engineering, which runs the Red Bull Ampol Racing team.

Ford Australia has confirmed 500 Dark Horse coupes priced from $104,990 before on-road costs, alongside 250 examples fitted with the ‘T8-Spec Pack’ priced at $138,888 before on-roads.

The T8-Spec Pack will be fitted locally at Ford Australia’s Broadmeadows Plant 2 facility in Melbourne – the same site that produced the 2019 Mustang R-Spec and part of Ford’s former manufacturing operations which ended in 2016.

Order books are now open, with first deliveries due in the fourth quarter of 2026 (October to December).

“By partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering, we’ve created a vehicle that not only celebrates our racing heritage but offers our most passionate enthusiast customers a globally unique, bespoke numbered collector’s item vehicle, upfit right here in Melbourne,” said Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson.

The original Mustang Dark Horse launched in Australia in 2023, priced from $99,102 before on-road costs for the manual and $103,002 for the automatic.

That compares to the current Mustang GT, which starts from $84,990 before on-road costs.

For 2026, the Dark Horse continues with the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre ‘Coyote’ V8 producing 350kW of power and 550Nm of torque.

Buyers can choose between a Tremec six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission at no extra cost, with both featuring a Torsen limited-slip differential and MagneRide adaptive suspension.

Visual upgrades include a unique front grille, Tarnish Dark-painted 19-inch alloy wheels, matching rear wing detailing, and black quad exhaust tips.

Three new colours – Molten Magenta, Orange Fury and Adriatic Blue – join the palette, with Oxford White and Race Red the only finishes not subject to the $975 prestige paint surcharge.

An optional appearance pack priced at $3575 adds black bonnet graphics, a black roof and Notorious Blue brake calipers, and is limited to Shadow Black, Vapour Blue and Adriatic Blue exterior finishes. Blue Ember can only be ordered in conjunction with this appearance package.

The T8-Spec Pack pays tribute to the Red Bull Ampol Racing team, which leads the 2026 Repco Supercars Teams Championship after switching from Chevrolet Camaro to Ford Mustang race cars this season.

Broc Feeney currently leads the drivers’ standings in the team’s number 88 Mustang.

All 250 T8-Spec Pack cars include a Track Experience at Queensland Raceway, hosted by Triple Eight Race Engineering, with vehicles supplied by Ford.

The road-going special edition is available exclusively with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission and features bespoke Triple Eight branding, including bonnet and boot logos, along with a Grabber Blue rear wing insert.

It also gains black 19-inch alloy wheels with wider 10.5-inch front and 11-inch rear fitments, wrapped in 305/30R19 and 315/30R19 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres.

Chassis upgrades include a revised MagneRide tune, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, and adjustable top mounts.

Inside, Triple Eight scuff plates, blue door trim accents, and a blue-accented gear selector with T8 branding are fitted, while standard Recaro sports seats feature blue bolsters. These Recaro sports seats are a $3835 option on the regular Dark Horse.

Each of the 250 T8-Spec Pack vehicles will feature an individually numbered plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard.
