The Polestar 2 lineup has shrunk slightly for model year 2027 (MY27), with the entry-level ‘Standard range Single motor’ now discontinued.
Polestar says its axing is “in line with customer preferences for vehicles with a longer driving range”.
The mid-size electric liftback lineup now opens with the ‘Long range Single motor’ variant priced at $66,400 before on-road costs, unchanged from MY26 but $4000 higher than the now-defunct Standard range Single motor.
The MY27 Polestar 2 lineup is arriving in Australia during the middle of 2026.

Other than the addition of Pixel LED headlights and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system to the flagship Dual Motor with Performance pack – a claimed $5100 of extra value, at no extra cost – the Polestar 2 lineup is unchanged.
This follows more substantial MY26 updates, which brought a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor across the range and a slightly reshuffled spec list, including the availability of a 1350W 14-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Pricing was unchanged for MY26 – apart from a $4700 increase for the Dual motor Performance as its optional Plus Pack became standard – and it’s unchanged again on carryover models for MY27.
With the Standard range 70kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery deleted for MY27, there’s only an 82kWh pack available.

This offers 659km of WLTP range in Long range Single motor guise, with 568km-596km on dual-motor variants. The maximum DC fast-charge rate is 205kW.
The defunct Standard range Single motor, in contrast, had 554km of range and a 180kW maximum DC charge rate.
All MY27 Polestar 2s feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-in, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, and a surround-view camera.

The Dual motor Performance adds features like a fixed panoramic glass roof and Pixel LED headlights, however, some of its additional features can also be added to the Long range Single motor and Long range Dual motor via a range of option packages.
In the first quarter of this year, Polestar 2 sales increased by 13.0 per cent to 139 units. However, the Polestar 4 mid-size SUV has overtaken it in the sales race, with 307 units delivered so far this year.
The Polestar 2 is outselling the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (17) and MG IM5 (101), but is being outsold by the Tesla Model 3 (1363) and BYD Seal (934).
