Ford Ranger, Everest and Mustang recalled

    Ford has issued a product safety recall for its popular Ranger, Everest and Mustang . However, unlike the simultaneously announced F-150 recall, this affects a small handful of vehicles.

    “Due to a manufacturing defect, the transmission main valve body may not meet engineering specifications,” the company says in its recall notice.

    “As a result, when the gear selector is placed into the reverse position the vehicle may fail to reverse and/or move forward inadvertently when placed into reverse or neutral position.

    “Note: The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and Wrench light will illuminate when the malfunction occurs.

    “If the vehicle fails to reverse and/or moves forward inadvertently, this could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users.”

    If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a Ford Australia dealership to have a free inspection and rectification carried out.
