Volvo Car Australia has quietly slashed pricing of the Volvo EX30 and EX40 electric SUVs, with reductions of up to $11,300.

There have been no specification changes made to the two small electric SUVs.

“Volvo Car Australia has repositioned its 30 and 40 series all-electric vehicles,” said a company spokesperson in a statement.

“To accommodate the arrival of the game-changing EX60, it is paramount that we alter our current game plan. When the all-electric mid-size SUV arrives, it will change the game in the largest electric market segment in terms of range, charging speed, performance, and price.”

EX30 pricing has been reduced by between $7000 and $11,300, with the lineup now opening at $49,990 before on-road costs – a full $10,000 less than before.

Pricing for the EX40 – formerly known as the XC40 Recharge – has been cut across the range by $7000, and now opens at $69,990 before on-road costs.

The EX60 is expected on sale here either in late 2026 or early 2027, and will serve as the brand’s first mid-size electric SUV and a battery-powered alternative to the popular XC60.

The EX30 was launched here in 2024 as the brand’s entry-level electric SUV.

It’s offered with a single-motor rear-wheel drive powertrain with 200kW of power and a 69kWh battery with 462km of electric range on the WLTP cycle. It’s offered in either Plus or Ultra trim levels.

The more rugged-looking EX30 Cross Country upgrades to a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain with 315kW of power, but offers 417km of range. It’s now the only way to get a dual-motor powertrain in the EX30, after the Twin Motor Performance offered at launch was retired last year.

The older EX40 is offered in a single level of specification, but with either 185kW single-motor rear-wheel drive or 300kW dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrains, both with an 82kWh battery. WLTP range figures are 520km and 485km, respectively.
